Sharing STEM with Young Children: Free Workshop for Early Childhood Educators & Parents (Adults)
Presented by Laurie Bone, Senior Curator of Programs at Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium
Spend the day discovering new ways to teach little ones all about their world with hands-on projects and simple activities using everyday items. We’ll share some of our favorite science activities for little learners in this fast-paced, hands-on session. Themes will include construction and exploring earth. All educators will receive detailed instructions about each activity as well as a signed certificate of attendance.

Birds of Prey (All Ages)


Get an up close and personal look at Michigan birds of prey when Joe Rogers and the Wildlife Recovery Association bring these powerful birds to a library near you.

Bookmobile: Drop-in anytime during the month of October.

Grades 3-6 are invited to design, experiment, build and invent! Use recycled materials to make innovative creations. Participate in a variety of open-ended activities with emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Lego Club (Grades 3-6)

Join us for Lego building fun at the library! Make your own unique Lego creations! We supply the Legos and you supply the imagination.

Read Off Your Fines! (Children only)


During the month of December children through sixth grade have the opportunity to come to one of the following library programs and Read Off Your Fines!

For every twenty minutes of reading or listening, overdue fines on any one returned library item will be eliminated (does not apply to lost or damaged items). Staff will read aloud during the first twenty minutes. After that, children may read on their own. Free snacks provided.

Drop-in anytime during the programs. These programs are for reading off children’s fines only.
