There are several online catalogs you can use for searching and researching.
Library Catalog – we refer to this as the “library catalog” because it includes all of the Bay County Library System materials as well as those of many other public and school libraries in our area. It also includes the Delta College and Northwood University libraries. We recommend that you always search this catalog first, since as a rule, materials requested via this catalog will arrive more quickly. Often referred to as the ValCat, or VLC Catalog, it serves as the catalog for the Valley Library Consortium, in which we are a member library.
MelCat – the Michigan Electronic Library Catalog includes materials from hundreds of libraries throughout the state of Michigan. If you do not find what you are looking for in our Library Catalog (above), you can request materials through MelCat. Generally, it takes 7-10 days to receive materials requested from MelCat libraries. Also, the terms of borrowing, including renewal options, are set by the loaning library. If you have questions, please ask one of our librarians.
WorldCat – the World Catalog is available for searching only. It gives you the ability to search many libraries throughout the world. We do not currently provide interlibrary loan service through OCLC, which administers the World Catalog.
SVSU – patrons may wish to search the Saginaw Valley State University’s Zahnow Library (CardCat) catalog.
