Wirt 2nd Floor: 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 4-8 pm

 

Thanks to the Bay Area Community Foundation, Bay City welcomes its first community writing center! On the first and third Tuesday of every month from 4-8 pm, the Bay Community Writing Center (BCWC) provides FREE writing workshops and one-on-one tutoring at Wirt Library. The BCWC is staffed by trained SVSU Writing Center tutors. There is no need to register for the workshops in advance—just stop by!

Mar 5: Writing the SAT Essay
Taking the SAT soon? Discuss the SAT writing prompt and scoring rubric, review effective examples, and practice drafting your own essay.

Apr 2: Writing Short Stories
Explore the central elements of short stories. Prompts will be given to help you draft your own poems or revise poems you have already written.

Prom Donation Drive

During the month of February, All BCLS branches will accept donations of new and gently used, clean prom dresses, shoes, and accessories for Becca’s Closet Bay City Chapter.

Book Watch @ Wirt 
Watch What You Read!
Each month we’ll read a book that has been made into a movie. On the
2nd Monday of every month in Wirt’s community room, we’ll enjoy popcorn and
watch the movie, followed by a ‘book vs movie’ discussion!
Book selections will be available in the Fiction area on a first come, first served
basis one month prior to the movie dates below:

March 11, 2 pm – The Guernsey Literacy & Potato Peel Pie Society (book by Mary Ann Shaffer)
