Memorial Gift
Why a library memorial?
Many people wish to express their respect for a friend or loved one with a tribute of lasting significance, one which reflects the particular interest of the person honored. They may wish their memorial to directly benefit the community in which the person honored had lived.
What kind of library memorial?
Memorial Book
Memorial Equipment/Furnishings
Memorial Donation
How are memorial gift identified?
A special book plate is placed in each memorial book giving the name(s) of the donor(s) and that of the person in whose name the memorial is given.
For furnishings or equipment, a metal memorial plate bearing the above information is affixed to the piece given.
Library staff will send a letter to the family of the deceased person to tell them of the gift.
The gift is recorded in the library's Memorial Register which is available to the public at all times at each library building.
Which library will receive the memorial?
If you like, you may designate the library facility in which your memorial book will be placed. The placement of equipment or furnishings does require consideration of the space, services, and needs of an individual library facility.
How much does a memorial cost?
This is a matter of personal choice. You may designate an amount to be spent for a book on a special topic. Specific titles or items may carry a specific cost.
How do I arrange for a memorial gift?
Please contact the Managing Librarian at any library, call Library Headquarters at 894-2837, or print out and complete this memorial form and send it and your memorial donation to the address given.
