The new Alice and Jack Wirt Public Library will replace the existing Bay City Branch. Here are a few photographs of the work that has happened on the project in recent weeks. Below you will find links to other pages related to the Library Improvement Project. Continuing progress on the front of the building, though much more work is now being done inside the building... This is inside the program room in the children's department (1st floor), along the curved west wall. Other areas of the children's department are still cluttered with fixtures, etc. wating to be installed and thus don't make for good pictures! Looking toward the south east on the first floor. This will be the fiction and new books area. The boxes of light fixtures and ceiling tiles will eventually make their way into the ceiling, of course. Progress on the fireplace along the east wall in the reading lounge area of the fiction department... The teen area in the southwest portion of the first floor... The stairway to the second floor... ...and a few of the teen area from the second floor... The outside of the computer lab at the top of the stairs... The reference desk is going together on the second floor... Looking west from the reference desk toward the local history and genealogy room... A look along the curved wall at the front (north) on the second floor. There will be seating and small study tables along much of this wall. A peek into the 2nd floor reading lounge. This is the space right under the clock at the front of the building and should prove to be a very popular spot for relaxing with a book, magazine or newspaper.
