Digital Collections FAQ

BCLS download and streaming services can be accessed by all Bay County residents with a valid BCLS library card in good standing.

BCLS offers three unique download and streaming services:

  • Libby/OverDrive (downloadable eBooks and magazines)
  • Hoopla (downloadable/streaming movies, TV, eBooks, audiobooks, music, comics)
  • Kanopy (video streaming service with instant access to
    thousands of critically acclaimed movies, documentaries, and kids'
    favorites)

Please note: These digital collections are available to Bay County resident cardholders only. 

With your BCLS library card, you can access:

Hoopla offers movies, TV, music and more 
Kanopy offers critically acclaimed movies, documentaries, and kids'
favorites

Libby contains eBooks and magazines which you can download to your mobile device or eReader using your BCLS library card. Hoopla contains eBooks, audiobooks, television episodes, and music that can be downloaded to your device.

Libby offers unlimited digital magazine issues to read using your BCLS library card.

Each BCLS digital service has specific usage limits. With hoopla and Libby, you can check out a limited number of titles every month. Your checkout limits reset at midnight on the first day of each month. Kanopy allows up to 10 digital item uses per month. Kanopy Kids and The Great Courses do not count toward your limit.

With our new reciprocal lending partnership, your Bay County Library System card now gives Bay County residents access to multiple Michigan library systems’ Libby collections - at no extra cost.
