CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE

Read Woke web banner

Literature is one way to explore difficult issues, such as racism and inequality. In response to many patron requests for books that deal with these important topics, we launched our Read Woke Reading Challenge online!

There are 10 categories in the challenge, and we have compiled lists of recommended reading from various sources to help you discover diverse books for readers of all ages. Simply check off that you have read a book from each category and you will have completed the challenge! There are no deadlines or prizes.

Participate online at baycountylibrary.beanstack.org or via the Beanstack Tracker app.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten banner

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000-book goal in three years while providing children essential early literacy skills.

If your child has already started the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge either on paper or using a different app, our staff can transition your progress into baycountylibrary.beanstack.org so you can keep going from your current spot. Just contact your branch or email us at bclsbeanstack@baycountylibrary.org.

Future Librarian Training

Children earn digital badges as they discover how to search our catalog, research family history, and other fun activities based on the principles of librarianship!

Participate online at baycountylibrary.beanstack.org or via the Beanstack Tracker app.
